Families displaced by the recent San Diego fire storms are invited to join with their neighbors and fellow San Diegans at the 4S Commons Halloween Trick or Treat event!

Celebrate Halloween with your kids this year in a safe, family-friendly environment! Legoland’s ninth annual Brick-or-Treat celebration. Dress up in your best costume and enter into the costume contest. Kids 12 and under can trick-or-treat for candy and other surprises, enjoy entertainment with the Boo Crew, build LEGO pumpkins, or participate in the LEGO Candy Corn Scavenger Hung at the Haunted Hideaways. $15 for nighttime pass; free with park admission ($57 for adults; $44 for kids and seniors). · Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm

Weekdays: pumpkins, squash, and gourds of all shapes and sizes are available for purchase. (Medium-size pumpkins are $4.75; large pumpkins (50 to 150 pounds) are 40 cents a pound.) Along with a stroll through the pumpkin patch, kids can go for tractor hayrides, pony rides, wind their way through the straw maze, visit the interactive petting corral, and look at all the interesting animals in the farm zoo. Along with all these activities, your family is invited to picnic on their 8 acre park. Also, Sunday, October 28th there will be a Dog Costume Contest Weekends on the farm go from 12 to 3 pm, and include (in addition to weekday activities) face painting, rock climbing, kettle corn, food, BBQ, and plenty of entertainment.

Join in the fun at Tierra Miguel Farm. For $7 per person (family rates available) take a pumpkin home, try to find your way through the straw bale maze, go on wagon rides and get involved in the other fun activities. School tours are also available during the week. Tierra Miguel Farm is an organic farm, certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). According to their newsletter, News From the Farm, the farm has grown more than 4 acres of pumpkins ripe for the picking! About half are a small pumpkin variety called New England Pie, while the other half are great for pumpkin carving. · Haunted Birch Aquarium

The Birch Aquarium transforms into a haunted aquarium and features trick-or-treating, games, crafts, spooky stories, science exhibits and more. Make sure to dress up because a costume contest will be held each evening with prizes awarded for the best marine-themed, best family, and most creative costumes. · 32nd Annual Harvest Festival at the Del Mar Fairgrounds

One of the largest traveling craft fairs returns to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the 32nd year in a row, this year including more original arts and crafts than ever before. The festival will include more than 300 vendors, as well as plenty of fun for the entire family. There will be a pumpkin patch, live entertainment, and gourmet foods. · The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park – “It’s No Walk in the Park”

A section of Downtown will be blocked off for this annual party. The main gate is located on 7th and Market East Village. There is a costume contest with the grand prize $3000 cash. If you’re looking for a good scare, visit the Haunted Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown San Diego’s historic Gaslamp District. Not recommended for children under ten. Tickets are $13.99 at the door.

Take a tour through one of California’s certified “haunted” houses, famous for the eerie deaths of one of Thomas and Anna Whaley’s children, a neighbor child, and a gallows-era thief know as Yankee Jim Robinson. Tickets: $6 adults, $4 children (Day time Admission); $10 adults, $5 children (Evening Admission). Tickets are available at the door. On October 26, 27 and 31st, the Whaley House will be open from 10am-midnight. Admission on Halloween is $15.

· Spooky Sleepover at the San Diego Zoo

Families with children over the age of 4 can enjoy an evening or overnight excursion of animals, trick-or-treating, costumes, arts, crafts, music, a private bus tour and moonlight walk. Learn all about different animals and their “creepy body parts”. Start the night with an orientation with Dr. Zoolittle. Buffet dinner is then served, followed by trick-or-treating around the Children’s Zoo and many more suprises. The following morning, wake up to a hot breakfast and scavenger hunt!
